The significance of consistently arriving early became evident when a KFC employee in Macon, Georgia, Khoury Booze, received a $10,000 bonus for maintaining a perfect attendance record throughout 2021. Booze, having worked at KFC since 1992, not only operates the fryers but also handles various responsibilities beyond food preparation. WMAZ reported this noteworthy achievement on December 31, 2021.
Clarified by branch manager Christina Braddy, Booze didn’t directly receive the bonus. Instead, all employees with flawless attendance were eligible for a lottery, and Booze happened to be the fortunate winner of the $10,000 bonus. His consistent hard work, recognized by his supervisor, earned him well-deserved praise. Booze, who is dedicated to his work, expressed that he is not obligated to prove himself; he supervises the process, faithfully showing up for work each day. When he shared the news with his mother, she initially doubted its authenticity, perceiving it as sarcasm.
Having secured the bonus, Booze plans to use it for his family’s well-being and to maintain his vehicle. Despite the windfall, he still considers his colleagues as an extended family and emphasizes the familial atmosphere at work. While he envisions a vacation for his immediate family, he remains grateful for the KFC team, emphasizing the importance of persistence, hard work, and financial prudence for young individuals starting their careers at KFC.
In contrast, Kevin Ford received a modest acknowledgment from Burger King for his 27th anniversary with the company— a Reese’s bag, candy tubes, pens, a reusable Starbucks cup, and a movie ticket. Despite expressing gratitude, Ford noted that the gift seemed like items the company had on hand.
