Having swiftly implemented its project across several European countries, a Slovakian company that developed the Ecocapsule series of micro-homes has officially announced its imminent launch in the United States.
The presentation of Ecocapsule micro-homes is scheduled during NYCxDESIGN 2019, an annual design festival in New York taking place from May 10 to 22 in the heart of Times Square. The Ecocapsule home, designed by the Nice & Wise design studio (formerly known as Nice Architects), is a low-energy mobile dwelling with a compact, egg-shaped form. This energy-efficient “container” is designed for two adults and comes equipped with a built-in kitchen.
The design also includes a toilet, hot shower, fold-out bed, and ample storage space for sports or exploration equipment.
The first micro-homes were released in 2015, and in the same year, the Ecocapsule project made it to the shortlist of the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD competition. In 2018, the project was showcased on the roof of the UNIQ building in the center of Bratislava, with the company planning to sell a limited series of 50 micro-homes to buyers in the USA, Japan, Australia, and the EU.
NYCxDESIGN is an annual celebration of design in New York, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors and designers from around the world. The 12-day event invites residents and all city guests to explore self-sufficient micro-homes.
Thomas also hopes to discover new distributors and engage them in collaboration. Given the significant interest in the project within the hospitality sector, the company aims to expand in that direction.
